Artists in Residence Ukulele Retreat with Stuart Fuchs

Ukulele “minstrel” and gypsy jazz guitarist Stuart Fuchs will lead a ukulele retreat, Oct. 25-27 at Lake Junaluska as part of its Artists-in-Residence program. The retreat is for people of all ukulele skill levels.

Fuchs is an award-winning musician and teaching artist who has played music across the globe, including Django Reinhardt’s gypsy jazz with symphony orchestras, workshops at ukulele festivals and yoga retreat centers. He has toured internationally performing gypsy jazz guitar and meditative guitar styles with renowned sacred chant artist Snatam Kaur and recorded on her 2018 Grammy-nominated release “Beloved.”

Fuchs also worked as a professional artist in residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, where he offered healing music and different creative therapies for patients, families and hospital staff.  In 2014 he was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to create music and films documenting his work offering healing music at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
