Retreats at Lake Junaluska

A beloved spiritual retreat center for more than 100 years, Lake Junaluska welcomes groups for retreats all year round. You can build the perfect retreat for your group, or choose from a Lake Junaluska retreat or program.

To create your own retreat, choose the accommodations, venues and catering options that are perfect for your group, and complete a Request for Proposal below. Our group sales office will reach out to you to help you plan. We host retreats for church groups, quilters, musicians, yoga enthusiasts and more!

If you would like to participate or bring a group to participate in a retreat or program offered by Lake Junaluska, explore our Spiritual Renewal retreats and programs and events calendar. We offer Winter Youth Retreats and Confirmation Retreats for youth, and events such as the Festival of Wisdom & Grace, Choir Music Weekend and Journey to Joy Women’s Retreats for adults. Available Venues for Retreats

Located in the shadow of Lake Junaluska’s iconic cross, the Amphitheater provides an expansive view of Lake Junaluska and the beauty of Western North Carolina’s mountains. Absorb the wonders of the area while seated in the Amphitheater, which provides theater-style seating in its outdoor setting.

Harrell Center sits lakeside and is centrally located across from The Terrace Hotel and next to Stuart Auditorium. Small meeting rooms are perfect for retreat gatherings, and a large auditorium. Many rooms have stunning lake views, and rocking chairs on the back porch make the perfect place to take a break.

Located near the Lake Junaluska Apartments, Hillside Lodge and Lake Junaluksa Outfitters recreation area, the Kern Center has a large front porch overlooking the lake, making it a great space for a restful retreat. Its auditorium can be divided into two meeting rooms or used as a reception area.

Have your next retreat in a beautiful lakeside mountain setting! Watch swans and geese glide by on the water, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Lakeside White Tent can accommodate up to 100 guests and has zippered sides for inclement weather.

The Lambuth Inn is the perfect venue for your retreat. Offering modern conveniences like free wireless internet and updated meeting rooms, it retains its historic charm with a lobby decorated much the same as it was in 1921. Retreat attendees will enjoy its beautifully landscaped surroundings, including a garden walk to nearby Inspiration Point, which overlooks the lake and mountains.

Constructed from local granite with a Celtic cross stop its turret, Memorial Chapel is nestled next to the lake and offers a beautiful setting for devotional time, meditative break-out sessions or other contemplative gatherings for your retreat.

The Nanci Weldon Outdoor Gym provides ample space for games, fellowship and fun in the open air while keeping everyone covered. Take time away from your meetings with games, snacks or just time to get to know each other in this casual outdoor setting.

The historic Shackford Hall features a large auditorium with beautiful hardwood flooring, a stage, and audio/visual equipment, making it just right for retreats. Its modern, renovated interior also features eleven meeting rooms, many with amazing views of the mountains and lake.

Gather together in one of six meeting rooms, enjoy time in the beautiful, contemporary lobby with a large fireplace and windows looking out at the lake, and have meals at the hotel dining room with sweeping vistas of the lake and mountains. The Terrace Hotel is centrally located at Lake Junaluska, making it the perfect option for retreats.

Opening in 2024, the Warren Center & Musgrave Event Lawn features a banquet hall and event lawn with scenic lake and mountain views.

The Wilson Complex is a perfect meeting space for smaller groups, gatherings and conferences. Located near Lake Junaluska Outfitters and within walking distance of Yorkside Dining, Hillside Lodge, Mountainview and the Apartments, the Wilson Complex is centrally located to dining, outdoor activities and economy lodging.

Offering indoor and outdoor dining, an accessible partially-covered outdoor deck, and incredible views of the lake, York Dining Commons is a great option for meals and break times during your next church, group or corporate retreat.
