John Henry Ensemble to perform at Peace Conference

The John Henry Ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Harrell Center Auditorium at Lake Junaluska. The free concert, which is part of the 2026 Peace Conference, is open to the public.

The John Henry Ensemble celebrates jazz, gospel jazz, blues and the music of the “Great American Songbook.” The ensemble will include Turner Battle on keys and Paul Foster on bass, and other guests. 

The Rev. Dr. Henry is an associate professor and chair of the department of Visual and Performing Arts and director of the music program at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. He currently is the director of the Greensboro Big Band, where he sings and plays bass trombone. Dr. Henry brings energy and variety to his shows by collaborating with various jazz musicians and vocalists in the Piedmont Triad Area. 

Dr. Henry is also pastor of Holmes Grove United Methodist Church, where he combines his love of music with his love for God.
