“And you will have life and life abundantly” is the theme of the 2026 Festival of Wisdom & Grace set for Aug. 17-20 at Lake Junaluska. This popular festival will help participants navigate transitions, explore their second half of life and learn to flourish as they age, while cultivating their relationship with Christ.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. James A. (Jim) Harnish, a retired United Methodist Church pastor with 43 years of ministry experience. He is the founding pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida. He has served as senior pastor of Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida, for 22 years. Harnish is the author of more than 20 books and Bible studies and has held various leadership roles within the United Methodist Church, including service on the General Board of Discipleship and as a delegate to multiple conferences. He currently sits on the Board of Visitors at Duke Divinity School.
Music leader will be Jim Frazier, who has been on staff at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, for nearly 30 years. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Asbury Theological Seminary.
Worship Leader will be Bishop Jane Middleton, a graduate of Yale Divinity School, who was ordained deacon and elder by Bishop Ralph Ward in the New York Annual Conference. She served churches in Simsbury, Naugatuck and New Canaan, Connecticut. She was responsible for Spiritual Life for clergy and laity on conference staff and was district superintendent from 1999 until her election to the episcopacy and was assigned to the Harrisburg area. She trained at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation and leads retreats and conferences on spiritual life.
Entertainment will be provided by Bill Douglas and The Blue Mountaineers, a bluegrass and Americana music band, which will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Harrell Center Auditorium.
