Wrap yourself in the glow of a winter wonderland at Lake Junaluska this holiday season.
Lake Junaluska’s new Lights at the Lake is a free, walk-through winter-themed lights display at Harrell Center lawn and the Susanna Wesley Garden, which is behind The Musgrave Event Lawn. The lights will be on from 5 p.m. to midnight daily, November 26-January 31.
The “Winter Wonderland” theme features snowflakes, twinkling icicles, snowfall lights and starbursts in warm whites and blues, which glow throughout the grounds.
“Everything is snow- and ice-themed in a lovely classic white and blue,” said Melissa Marshall, director of grounds at Lake Junaluska. “It’s a very classic winter feel, which was our focus because of Haywood County’s upcoming Ice Fest, which Lake Junaluska is a part of.” Ice Fest is Jan. 29 through Feb. 1, 2026.
Because of the Lake’s participation in Ice Fest, Lake Junaluska received financial support from Visit Haywood to purchase lights that can be used during the holiday season and as part of a larger lighted ice garden during Ice Fest. The addition of the new lights is the perfect complement to Lake Junaluska’s traditional Christmas decorations, Marshall said.
“We love this time of year because the Lake comes alive with all of its holiday decorations that are put together by a team of Junaluskans who volunteer their time to make the overnight transformation of the campus,” Marshall said. “Each year, these volunteers put the decorations up and take them down. We couldn’t have these beautiful displays without the Junaluskans”
While the event is free, visitors may donate to the Lake Junaluska Annual Fund to support this and other events at Lake Junaluska.
