Lake Junaluska to host Journey to Joy Women’s Retreats

Jan. 6, 2023

Lake Junaluska will host three Journey to Joy Women’s Retreats in 2023, bringing women together for meaningful weekends of laughter, sharing, worship and fellowship.

Offered in partnership with Leigh Young, author of Journey to Joy: A Seven-Week Path to the Joyous Life God Intended and Lessons from the Letters, the retreats will be held March 24-26, Aug. 25-27, and Nov. 10-12.

“We will have fun as we explore a different theme at each retreat that will draw us closer to God, closer to each other, and closer to the joyous life God intends for us,” said Young.

The spring retreat, which takes place in March during Lent, will center on “Women of the Cross: A Journey to Intimacy with God.”

“We will learn the power of prayer and meditation from Mary, the mother of Jesus,” said Young. “We will learn the power of transformation through Christ from Mary of Magdala. We will learn the power of worship from Mary of Bethany. We will learn the power of service from Mary, the mother of James and Joseph. At this retreat, we also explore the path of another woman of the cross – YOU.”

At the summer retreat in August, the theme will be “Lessons from the Letters: A Journey to the Abundant Life.” The Bible study will center on the letters to the seven churches found in the opening chapters of the book of Revelation.

“Although written centuries ago, these truths are as relevant to us today as they were to the early believers,” said Young. “We will ‘journey’ to those cities and explore the lessons from these letters. It will be a joyful and worshipful adventure.”

Journey to Joy is the theme for the November retreat. Jesus told us that He came so that we can live a joyful, abundant life.

An author, speaker and entrepreneur, Young has a passion for helping women find joy through the Word of God and the God of the Word. Her latest book, “Journey to Joy: A Seven-Week Path to the Joyous Life God Intended,” takes the reader on a voyage to the “abundant life.” She also leads local retreats for women’s groups and multi-week, small-group studies.

“Some participants come to make new friends and others participate with their women’s group, faith group or informal group of friends and family,” said Young. “All are welcome, and we look forward to coming together as sisters in Christ to celebrate God’s love and joy.”

Retreat pricing includes lodging at the historic Lambuth Inn, five meals and the program, ranging from $295.90 per person with four people sharing a room to $474.40 per person for a single occupancy room.
