Lake Junaluska’s Summer Activities Program returns with s’mores, storytelling and more

Mark your calendar for the kick off of Lake Junaluska’s Summer Activities Program, which returns with another season of fun for the whole family. The Summer Activities Program offers free and low-cost activities that celebrate faith, recreation, arts and education for people of all ages.

This year, Lake Junaluska’s Summer Activities Program is offering the following:

Storytelling and Music Around the Campfire, 8 p.m. Thursdays, July 9-Aug. 6, Shackford Hall Firepit. Enjoy s’mores, music and storytelling. Bring a chair.

July 9—Jennifer Armstrong, singer, storyteller, fiddler, piper and poet living
July 16—“Uncle” Ted White, third generation North Carolinian square dance caller, musician with White Water Bluegrass, storyteller and humorist
July 23—Shannon LeMaster-Smith, ordained deacon, musician, storyteller and Youth & Children’s Ministry strategist for the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church
July 30—Chris Hughes, pastor, musician, storyteller, former director of Southeastern Jurisdictional age-level programs at Lake Junaluska
Aug. 6— DuPre Sanders, pastor and storyteller

Additionally, Lake Junaluska Outfitters rents kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, PDFs and paddles for beginning and experienced boaters and recreation equipment for bocce ball, shuffleboard, cornhole, basketball and soccer. Guided cruises are offered aboard the Cherokee IV pontoon boat weather permitting.
